President Duda spoke with the Iranian leader about drones

On Wednesday, President Andrzej Duda had a telephone conversation with Iran's President Ebrahim Ra'isi. As reported by the President's Chancellery, the leaders "raised bilateral issues and discussed the current international situation."

According to information from multiple sources, President Duda expressed "a very clear position" about reports about the sale of drones to Russia.

"Poland intends to actively counteract any purchases of weapons by Russia" - a source from the President's Office told Polish Press Agency (PAP).

Famous former Polish Foreign Minister, the same who congratulated the US on destroying NS2, Radek Sikorski reacted:

"What?! When Iranian drones destroy Ukraine, when a wave of repression sweeps through Iran, Andrzej Duda calls the butcher from Tehran, the murderer of thousands of dissidents, and complements the peaceful policy of the terrorist mullah regime? Is the president crazy?" - he wrote on a Polish version of his Twitter account (much less restrained at using a salty language).

"I demand an explanation regarding the conversation between President Andrzej Duda and the Butcher of Tehran." - he added in another tweet.

Jakub Kumoch, the head of the presidential International Policy Bureau, answered Sikorski's tweet:

"Yesterday's conversation with the Iranian president was a consequence of a conversation with Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelensky, and it concerned almost exclusively reports on the sale of new arms to Russia. Discretion applies to the details of talks between states."

"The entry of the former head of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, insulting to the President and based on the statement of the other party, is surprisingly unprofessional. The fragment of the statement underlined by him does not correspond to the content of the conversation. The president was clear that it was a result of Russia's actions in Ukraine" - emphasized Kumoch.
