Switzerland may impose restrictions on electric vehicles to avoid blackouts

Energy portal Energetyka24: Switzerland could be the first country to impose restrictions on owners and drivers of electric vehicles to ensure the country's energy security. These actions are part of the draft national four-stage action plan to prevent interruptions in energy supplies.

The draft regulation is still being written, but it is already known that it would specify four levels of blackout risk. The restrictions on electromobility would only come into effect at the third level, and the use of electric cars would be possible only for "absolutely necessary trips" or as part of the profession. In addition, the planned changes also consider limiting the maximum speed on highways.

Switzerland imports electricity from France and Germany. However, in the current situation, the energy supply in these countries may also be limited; thus, Switzerland is preparing for the possibility of blackouts.
