The Smolensk subcommittee notifies prosecutors of a suspected assassination of President Lech Kaczyński

According to the Polish news portal Dorzeczy(dot)pl, the parliamentary subcommittee investigating the Smolensk catastrophe will submit a notification to the prosecutor's office of a suspected assassination on President Lech Kaczyński and the murder of 95 people accompanying him.

According to the so-called Miller's Report prepared by government officials from an opposition party to President Kaczyński, the president's plane hit a birch tree with its left wing, spun around, and hit the ground. According to the subcommittee's findings headed by the former head of the Ministry of National Defense, Antoni Macierewicz, there was an explosion in the wing.

In April of last year, the subcommittee presented the final report on its work. Macierewicz said that the catastrophe that took place on April 10, 2010, resulted from "an act of unlawful interference."
