Niezalezna(.)pl: Family members and crowds of residents said goodbye to eight-year-old Kamil on Saturday in Częstochowa, a city in southern Poland, who died a few days ago in the hospital as a result of severe injuries inflicted by his stepfather.
The funeral mass in the church at the Kule cemetery was presided over by the auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Częstochowa, Andrzej Przybylski. Later, the coffin with Kamil's body was placed in the grave.
The ceremony gathered several thousand people. Many families with children also came to say goodbye to Kamil. Many attendees brought white roses or other flowers. Some also brought teddy bears left at the grave, and white and blue balloons were released into the sky during the burial.
Kamil's stepfather, arrested at the beginning of April on charges of attempted murder and abuse of Kamil with cruelty after the boy's death, is to be charged with murder with 'particular cruelty.' The mother, suspected of exposing her child to immediate danger and aiding her husband in abusing the boy, may be charged with aiding in murder.
