Niezalezna(.)pl: In April 2008, at the NATO summit in Bucharest, the fate of Ukraine and Georgia's accession to NATO was hanging in the balance. German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and French President, Nicolas Sarkozy were against it. At the summit, Poland was represented by President Lech Kaczyński, who wholeheartedly supported the accession, but the government of Donald Tusk, quietly supporting Russia, did not want to remain passive and let it happen.
The information disclosed in the latest episode of the documentary, "Reset" shows that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under the leadership of Radosław Sikorski (husband of well know American journalist, columnist, and historian Ann Applebaum), deliberately delayed sending President Lech Kaczyński's letter to the leaders of NATO countries, in which he argued the high importance of the addition of Ukraine and Georgia to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
President Kaczyński wanted the letter to reach its addressees before the summit in Bucharest (April 2, 2008). However, this did not happen because, according to the disclosed documents, Radosław Sikorski decided to hide the letter in the armored cabinet at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a few days.
The reactions to the documentary show can be summarized as shock and disbelief. Many call it treason and sabotage.
This document was delivered in time to be taken seriously by the addressees. This was an action against the Polish national interests. In general, this was an act that ridiculed Poland, - says Minister Łopiński.
