Inspections extended on the Polish-Slovak border

Niezalezna(.)pl: Today ends the previous period during which the minister introduced temporary control at this border. It was first introduced on October 4 for 10 days, then extended by 20 days - until November 2.

The Minister of Interior and Administration Mariusz Kamiński extended controls on the border with Slovakia for another 20 days, until November 22.

The purpose of introducing border controls is to prevent illegal migration from the Balkan route.

According to the regulation, the border can be crossed through eight road and three railway crossings and eleven pedestrian crossings, but it is not allowed in other places - e.g. on mountain trails in the Tatra Mountains.

Border control with Slovakia was introduced urgently on October 4 on the basis of the Schengen Borders Code.
