Today, during a parliamentary expose, Radosław Sikorski, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, accused the previous government of undermining Poland's relations with the EU and trying to form an alliance with the USA against Brussels.
Reacting to those accusations President Andrzej Duda opened up about EU's political elites which for eight years accused Poland of not following their definition of "the rule of law."
- This is a huge disappointment for all those who thought that there was some basic honesty and justice in European politics. It is simple party politics pursued by the European People's Party (EPP) that has been fighting the Polish government for years and what we are seeing today is pure hypocrisy.
First of all, I am thinking here about those who govern the European Commission, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and those who preside over the European Parliament.
The President talked about European funds (KPO) permanently blocked for Poland by the European Commission for not meeting the so called 'milestones. '
Milestones turned out to be an insignificant element. You can unblock KPO without any conditions, it was enough that the government in Poland have changed.
Duda also recalled that the EU didn't mind Germany's cooperation with Russia in building Nord Stream 2 up until the war in Ukraine.
