Joe Wilson (R., South Carolina) and Steve Cohen (D. Tennessee), chairman and vice chairman of the Helsinki Commission, asked Biden "to grant Poland the authority to intercept and neutralize missiles over Ukraine, especially those that threaten Polish airspace."
"Poland's request to intercept and neutralize missiles over Ukraine is both necessary and urgent as a mechanism to support Ukraine and secure NATO borders," emphasized politicians.
In September, during an interview for the Financial Times, Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski suggested that Poland could shoot down missiles over Ukraine and has the right to do so. Secretary of State Antony Blinken then indicated that the issue was under discussion among NATO allies.
