Institute of National Security published the first situation report on elections

The National Security Institute (IBN) as part of the Election Protection project, has published the first situation report on the ongoing election pre-campaign.

The IBN report describes the social media disinformation campaign against Karol Nawrocki as "a stimulated and coordinated influence campaign."

According to researchers, the activity focuses on four goals: depreciating Nawrocki as a person, demonstrating that he has connections with the criminal world, suggesting that the civic candidate for president is a party activist, and pointing out that the candidate focuses only on physical activity.

The triple lie about Nawrocki's activities in Gdańsk was cited as an example of the spread of lies.

Polish commentators and politicians, openly lying, are conducting a political fight against Karol Nawrocki, falsely accusing him of responsibility for the death of the president of Gdańsk, Paweł Adamowicz, and that he was the PiS (Law and Justice party) candidate for the president of Gdańsk.

With such blatant lies used in public debate, Russia doesn't even have to make an effort. Some people in Poland do the work themselves for the Russian services.

The report also mentions the deprecation campaign against Rafał Trzaskowski. It emphasizes that it is addressed to other target groups but is reactive and has little dynamics.

It was added that the Russian special services typically support different sides of political and ideological divisions, "which provides Russia with the opportunity to strengthen polarization and stimulate social emotions."

Analysts warn that this mechanism will destabilize Poland during the election campaign and the elections for the President of the Republic of Poland.
