A video was posted on the President's Office's X (formerly Twitter) profile in which President Nawrocki announced his decision regarding the budget bill for 2026.
In the video, which lasted over eight minutes, the head of state explained the reasons for the decision.
"Despite my critical assessment of this budget, the constitution does not give me the right to veto it. Considering all the arguments presented and the powers I possess, I have decided to sign the budget law, but at the same time I am referring it to the Constitutional Tribunal for subsequent review," President Nawrocki said in a video released on Monday. "I am signing the budget to protect the stability of the state and referring it to the Constitutional Tribunal to protect the future of Poland."
"This budget is proof of the deep crisis of credibility, effectiveness, and competence of the current government. It is a budget that demonstrates a helpless surrender to the challenges facing Poland."
