Poland is building its own pipeline on the Baltic seabed

Gaz-System has started laying the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline in the Baltic Sea. As emphasized by Tomasz Stępień, CEO of the company, this is the first offshore gas pipeline in the history of the Polish gas industry.

"On June 27, Castorone, one of the vessels responsible for the construction of Baltic Pipe between Poland and Denmark, began laying the gas pipeline on the Baltic seabed," Gaz-System, the pipeline's operator, wrote in a communique on Monday.

The Baltic Pipe will bring Norwegian gas to Poland, and the goal is to finish the project by 2022. Gaz-System CEO stated that his company planned to lay 275 kilometres of the pipeline on the Baltic seabed by the end of the year.
