The Swedish concern Coop paralyzed by cyberattack, with it the whole country

The largest grocery chain in Sweden, Coop, and many German companies and other entities have been directly affected by a cyberattack using ransomware on the American software provider Kaseya Corp. As a result of the incident, 500 out of 800 Coop grocery stores remained closed on Sunday.

Sweden's state-owned railway, Apoteket Hjartat pharmacies, and St1 gas stations have also experienced a disruption in their payment systems since Friday.

On Friday evening, the checkout system, using the software of the American company Kaseya, stopped working in all Coop stores. As the concern said on Sunday, "intensive remedial actions are underway, but most stores will remain closed." It is not known when the branches will open, as each cash register requires manual reset and reprogramming. It is the largest failure of this type in the history of Swedish trade.
