Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has signed an ordinance that introduces the first ALFA-CRP alarm level throughout the country. The alert level is valid from Tuesday, January 18 (11:59pm) to Sunday, January 23, 2022 (11:59pm).
"This is the lowest level and concerns threats in cyberspace. The introduction of the ALFA-CRP level is of a preventive nature - it is associated with cyber attacks that have occurred in Ukraine in recent days" - we read in a communication from the Ministry of Digitization.
In recent days, Ukraine has fallen victim to cybercriminals. It was the most significant incident of this type in several years - it covered nearly 70 government websites. As a result of the attack, access to the Diia platform, the equivalent of the Polish mCitizen application, was also cut off.
"To ensure the security of Poland, the government takes pre-emptive measures. A meeting of the Critical Incidents Team was held at the Government Center for Security. Based on the conclusions of the meeting, and after consulting the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration and the head of the Internal Security Agency, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki signed the ordinance, which introduces the first level of ALFA-CRP. The level of alarm is valid until 23 January 23:59 throughout Poland "- says MC.
The CRP alert level is introduced in the event of a terrorist threat that concerns the ICT systems of public administration bodies or systems that are part of the critical infrastructure.
The introduction of this alert level means that the public administration is obliged to conduct increased monitoring of the security of ICT systems. It is about the possibility of a possible breach of the security of electronic communication.
