Russian missiles hit railway tunnel near Lviv

On Wednesday evening, the Russians shelled the Beskidy Railway Tunnel, one of the most important communication arteries in western Ukraine.

The damage is so serious that train traffic on international routes has been stopped (Przemyśl - Odesa, Przemyśl - Kyiv trains). There are also no long-distance trains connecting the Lviv region with such cities in Ukraine as Kyiv, Kharkiv, Uzhgorod, Zaporizhya, Odesa. Local services were also suspended.

The head of the Lviv regional administration, Maksym Kozycki, informed on Facebook that the rockets had been fired from the Black Sea and fell in the Lviv and Sambir regions. Five people were injured.

Western media report that the rail lines in the western Lviv region are a key conduit for Western weapons and other supplies. Those "other supplies" include Ukrainian grain that would be shipped to the Polish seaport in Gdansk for export to the countries that need it.
