Republican Senator Marco Rubio admitted on CNN that he fears Russia's attack on targets in Poland.
The biggest fear I have at present is that he [Vladimir Putin] attacks military supply centers for Ukraine in places such as Poland, said the highest-ranking Republican politician sitting on the intelligence committee of the US Senate.
The senator, who is a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee and, according to the media, is privy to the Pentagon briefings, admitted that "NATO will have to react in such a situation", but the answer depends on the scale and manner of Russian aggression.
Rubio believes the risk of a nuclear attack on Ukraine "is likely to be higher today than it was a month ago" and says Putin is closer to the "intermediate step," like an attack on a logistic point that does not have to be in Ukraine.
David Petraeus, the former head of the CIA, pointed out that in the event of a nuclear attack by Russia on Ukraine, NATO would destroy all Russian units in Ukraine, Crimea, and the Black Sea.
"The thing I worry about is a Russian attack inside NATO territory"
