Microsoft announced on Friday that a new cyber-ransomware attack campaign was detected against shipping and logistics companies in Poland and Ukraine. The concern's experts noted similarities to other attacks by groups linked to the Russian authorities.

According to the Microsoft Threat Intelligence Center (MSTIC) team, the attack was launched on October 11 with the use of a new malware called "Prestige."

According to experts, the attack was not related to any of the 94 known criminal groups so far, and the MSTIC was not able to attribute responsibility for the attack. However, the list of victims is in line with recent attacks by groups linked to the Russian authorities who struck using the data-wiping FoxLoad and HermeticWiper viruses.
