WGospodarce / Polish Press Agency: The National Bank of Poland (NBP) bought 0.64 million ounces of gold in May. The amount of gold held by the Polish central bank has increased by almost 1.12 million ounces since the beginning of the year, according to data published by the NBP on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, NBP published data on liquid assets and liabilities in foreign currencies at the end of May 2023. They show that NBP held 8.5 million ounces of gold at the end of May.
May was the second month in a row when the NBP bought gold. In April, the central bank said it had increased its gold holdings by 0.5 million ounces.
NBP's gold in the treasury at the end of May was worth PLN 70.6 billion or almost USD 16.59 billion.
