Poland: 73 percent election turnout. Highest since the fall of communism

Dorzeczy/Niezalezna: Around 1 p.m. (7 a.m. EST), the National Electoral Commission published the election results from 50 percent of district electoral commissions. According to them, the Law and Justice (PiS) achieved the support of 38.32 percent and Civic Coalition (KO) - 27.81 percent.

The Third Way - 14.37 percent support, and the New Left Electoral Committee - 8.23 percent support.

Confederation of Freedom and Independence received 7.34 percent support.

The opposition parties celebrated their "win" based on the exit polls, paving a road toward protest if the final results differed from those polls. They also suggested massive protests to force the President to ask them to form the government.

But so far, it looks like the governing party, PiS, may win enough votes to form the government without a need to form a coalition.
