Southwestern Poland is literally drowning. The government ignored warnings

- The European Commission has been alerting member states since September 10, using the European flood warning system operating as part of the Copernicus satellite system - said Janez Lenarczicz, EU Commissioner for Crisis Management, in the European Parliament today.

On September 13, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said: "The weather forecasts are not overly alarming."

- This shows that the government knew about the scale of the threat and did nothing, and what's more, Donald Tusk downplayed the entire information and misled everyone. There should be immediate dismissal and the State Tribunal for this - wrote MP Dariusz Stefaniuk on social media.

According to the commissioner Lenarczicz, the flood peak in Poland will occur on Thursday on the Oder River, while in Hungary, the water level will reach its highest level on Wednesday.
