EU commissioner instrumental in bringing down the previous Polish government has legal problems

Didier Reynders, an EU commissioner who, during the years of Law and Justice (PiS) rule, interfered in Polish internal policy, criticizing, among others, organization of elections, organization of the Supreme Court, commission for investigating Russian influence, now he himself is in trouble with the law. On Tuesday, the Belgian police searched a number of premises associated with Reynders, and he was interrogated for a long time.

Money laundering is suspected. Polish politicians suspect that the money comes from Russia.

The ftm(.)eu website states that the searches were carried out, among others, in the private apartments of Didier Reynders, and the ex-commissioner was interrogated until late in the evening on Tuesday. Investigators were waiting for Reynders' commissioner's mandate to expire, and this happened on Sunday.
