Weaponizing government agencies against political enemies is not exclusive to the Democratic party only. Polish liberal party, Civic Platform, has done it before when it was a governing (2007 - 2015) and is doing it now.
The weekly "Sieci" informs that what is happening at the nation's security agencies is a real drama. Agents are forced to act beyond norms and procedures, and orders were apparently issued against Karol Nawrocki, an independent presidential candidate. The idea is to find anything on him, even conduct surveillance of him and his family.
The weekly draws attention to the fact that the unofficial signal for the services to "deal with" Nawrocki was the statement made by Tomasz Siemoniak, coordinator of special services and head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, during an on-air interview for TVN24. He stated that the Internal Security Agency may have acted unprofessionally in issuing Karol Nawrocki a certificate of access to classified information.
Siemoniak virtually ordered the Internal Security Agency to return to this decision, i.e. he ordered the officers to look for something in the documents that could be used against Nawrocki — commented Siemoniak Żaryn, advisor to the President of the Republic of Poland.
Everything should be done informally so as not to leave any traces. Orders are given verbally. Some officers are against being dragged into a (political) game in which they do not want to participate.
“It's reminiscent of martial law, the anniversary of which we just celebrated. Some rebel against this, but then they are threatened with layoffs, the end of their careers, and the withdrawal of the right to a pension."
