Freedom of speech is under attack in Poland

Polish government fears impending electoral defeat. Their solution?

  • Withdrawal of broadcasting license for main conservative TV station.
  • Plans to restrict access to X, Facebook – banning platforms they cannot control.

Former deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Paweł Jabłoński, wrote on X:

"My country is ruled by a coalition of post-communist and liberal parties. They are forming a pro-European, pro-immigration government. People are fed up with this policy, so the government is afraid that they will lose the elections in May. They are losing support and they just can't cope. What is the reaction? Censorship."

The politician recalls the fact that Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski says that Republika's license should be taken away. He also highlights the idea of censoring social media, including portal X, for the duration of the presidential elections. "They say greater freedom of speech is dangerous."
