A coup creeping in Poland?

The President of the Constitutional Tribunal, Bogdan Święczkowski, announced on Wednesday that he had submitted a notification on suspicion of committing the crime of a coup d'état by, among others, Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Speaker of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia, Speaker of the Senate Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska and Minister of Justice and Attorney General Adam Bodnar.

– This is not a coup involving the army taking to the streets. It is a creeping, systemic coup – emphasized Święczkowski.

The President of Poland commented on the situation:

– We are certainly dealing with a whole series of repeated and ongoing gross violations of the law by various people who today exercise executive power, that is, are members of the government. I have no doubts about it," - he said.

President Duda emphasized that the president of the Constitutional Tribunal is talking about, among other things, the unpublished judgments of the Constitutional Tribunal and the non-recognition of one of the chambers of the Supreme Court. The president also drew attention to illegal changes in the National Prosecutor's Office.

Informing about the notification, Święczkowski explained that the crime concerning it was that since December 13 last year, persons covered by it acted as an organized group aiming to change the constitutional system of the Republic of Poland and acting to achieve or cease the activities of the Constitutional Tribunal and other constitutional bodies, including the National Council of the Judiciary and the Supreme Court.

PN: Given what is happening in Poland, such an allegation was inevitable. It is also astonishing that the President has not yet attempted to dismiss the government over constitutional violations.
