Fake news against Poland works as designed

A few days ago, there was a news report that President of Poland said that "Israel is responsible for Antisemitism in Poland." That report was immediately denied by the president's press office, but it didn't stop the media, especially Israeli media, from spreading this unverified, and now proven to be false, news. 

Almost immediately there were independent reports that the president never said any of that, yet links to those those reports somehow ended up at the bottom of the search results. And it seems that some media outlets keep producing news on the subject just to push down those links. Today one of them is at number 4 and number 1 is the title that never mentions that it is already proven wrong: Polish President Denies Saying Israel Is Responsible for anti-Semitism in Poland.

After all, even guilty deny any wrongdoing.

Oto jak pracuje Fake News na przykładzie prezydenta Dudy

Jestem pewien, że wiele ludzi jeszcze nie docenia negatywnego potencjału jakim jest Fake News. Niestety, jeśli chodzi o utratę dobrego imienia Fake News działa szybko i trudno to odreagować. 

Dla przykładu, kilka dni temu w światowych mediach, dzięki kilku izraelskim tytułom, ukazała się informacja, że Prezydent Duda oskarżył Izrael o wzrost anty-semityzmu w Polsce. Oczywiście kancelaria prezydencka jeszcze w tym samym dniu temu zaprzeczyła, ale "news" poszedł w świat. 

Jeszcze dzisiaj gdy na Google wpiszemy Poland i klikniemy na news to własnie ta informacja jeszcze żyje i ma się dość dobrze, wczoraj była w pierwszej dziesiątce wyników. Dzisiaj jest trochę lepiej bo pierwsza jest notatka z przed 2 dni, że prezydent temu zaprzecza ale link do artykułu z przed 3 dni który obala ten fake news jest dopiero na czwartym miejscu. Innymi słowy portal Haaretz puszczając wiadomość że Prezydent temu zaprzecza (wiedzą co robią) zepchnął wiadomość o tym co się naprawdę stało w doł. A zaprzeczenie czegoś wcale nie oznacza udowodnienie, że cos się nie wydarzyło, prawda?

Niestety rola Google a zwłaszcza Google News w ustawianiu kolejności wyników "search-y" tez jest trochę podejrzana bo oni sami podają ze "trochę" w to ingerują.

There is an interesting article at ADNET about the future of 5G and Poland's role in it. You may have to read it twice or more to understand why it's author thinks that just signed agreement between Poland and US is bad for the US. 

I actually think, that the author criticizes Poland for not going with Huawei, the company that works for Chinese government, Russia's closest ally that is not even trying to hide its bad intentions toward Poland.

If you are planing to be present at Walnut Hill Park, please be advised as to prohibited items which include, but are not limited to, the following: lawn furniture, signs with any type of affixed stick or handle, handbags, book bags, backpacks and purses. Alcohol, weapons, knives, firearms, bicycles, scooters, dogs, and drones are also prohibited.

All access pints to the park will be closed to vehicles between 10:30 am and 6:00 pm.

During those hours, no vehicles will be allowed to enter the park.

Participants in the meet and greet are asked to arrive no earlier than 11:30 am.

80 years ago Reds invaded Poland making the war the World War

September 17, today we commemorate 80th anniversary of the Soviet invasion of eastern Poland. This is probably the least favorite day for Vlad Putin, who is even threatening Poland over any reminder to the World that the Soviet Union helped Germany to start WWII.

You would think that Democrats and other Progressives will use this opportunity to "stick it" to Putin, the Grand Evil who helped Trump win elections, but no, instead they stick it to Poland.

President of Poland will visit New Britain, CT, this weekend

Hartford Courant: The biggest Polish-American community in Connecticut is getting ready to host a visit by Polish President Andrzej Duda, the first foreign head of state to visit the city in modern memory. 

President Duda is scheduled visit New Britain, CT, on this Sunday, 9/22, where he will attend the Holy Mass in local Polish-American church on Broad Street, center of the so called "Little Poland", and then meet with Polish-Americans at the local park, Walnut Hill Park.

The National Interest thinks that "Russia Might Have Hard Time Conquering Poland In a War" - I agree

It's good to see that at least one publication takes a closer look at Poland and its military in the more and more likely hood of Russian aggression. I fully agree with their conclusions even though they are missing another strong point which I brought up in my previous post.

Polish Territorial Defense Forces (WOT) bring to the table the traditions of the WWII Home Army (Armia Krajowa or simply AK). What many in the West may miss is that to follow the footsteps of AK means is a huge commitment that falls on the shoulder of every soldier of WOT. Every Pole knows and loves the history of AK and its ferocity in the fight against the occupying forces, German and Russian. What that means is that anybody who joins WOT promises to himself and to fellow Poles to fight to the end. War with Poland would not be a repeat of conflicts with Georgia or Ukraine and Russians know that.

Wygląda na to, ze chociaż jedna publikacja amerykańska publikacja patrzy na Polskę z rosnącym podziwem. Tydzień temu nazwali Polskę "najważniejszym członkiem NATO?" 

Dzisiaj piszą, że Rosja nigdy Polski nie podbije w zbliżającym się konflikcie. Według nich "Warszawa ma imponujące sposoby na kontratak."

Chodzi tutaj o Wojska Obrony Terytorialnej które nie tylko podnoszą liczebność polskich sil zbrojnych ale były by idealną odpowiedzią  na wojnę hybrydowa  czyli na "male zielone ludziki."

Wreszcie doceniona: Polska najważniejszym członkiem NATO?

Wczoraj ważna publikacja amerykańska, The National Interest (Interes Narodowy), opublikowała artykuł pana Dan Goure, prezydenta think tanku Lexington Institute, w którym autor wyraża przekonanie, że Polska staje się najważniejszym członkiem NATO. Dzieje się tak nie tylko ze względu na to, ze Polska jest jednym z siedmiu członków NATO który wypełnia swoje obligacje wydawania 2 procent dochodu narodowego na obronność ale także ze względu na zagrożenie ze strony Rosji oraz poważny i szybki program modernizacji sil zbrojnych.

Docenienie polskich starań w mediach amerykańskich, nawet jeśli są to na razie media specjalistyczne, to dobra wiadomość dla nas wszystkich.

Poland is for the first time called "The Most Important Member of NATO"

Yesterday, the National Interest, the publication of the Center for the National Interest published an article, Poland: The Most Important Member of NATO (Thanks to the Russia Threat)?, by a vice president at the public-policy research think tank Lexington Institute, Dan Gouré. In it, he says that because of the Russian threat and its seriousness in fulfilling its obligation to the Alliance Poland is quickly becoming a NATO's most important member. 

I have to agree with Mr Gouré. Poland is one of only seven NATO members to meet its obligation to spend 2 percent of GDP on defense and yet it just announced that it will increase its next year's spending by well over 10 percent, although in part in may be due to a successful economic year which means that its GDP rose as well. By now almost everybody knows that Poland is buying a fleet of F-35s. What is not known is that Poland is already looking for other aircraft to replace the remaining aging fighter planes. Poland is also seriously thinking about new tanks that will replace existing 500 or so T-72s (from the Soviet era) and even recently acquired Germal Leopard tanks. Because of the number of tanks needed and its geographic and geopolitical location Poland doesn't want to buy them it wants to build them.

Poland is also creating a highly capable and well trained Territorial Defense Force (TDF), the equivalent of the National Guard, that aims to have about 50,000 troops. What makes this military formation is that it not only wants to keep the tradition of the WWII Home Army but it may be exactly like it. Only Poles, and maybe the Russians, realize what that means. It means that if Poland is ever attacked the TDF will become the foundation to the national underground or partisan forces. 

It is good to know that Poland is beginning to the recognized as a credible deterrent to Russian conventional aggression.

80 rocznica - New York Times nie mógł się powstrzymać

Na pierwszy rzut oka komentarz do obchodów rocznicowych w Polsce był stonowany choc sam tytuł, "In Poland, Where History Is a Weapon, Leaders Commemorate World War II / W Polsce, gdzie historia jest bronią, światowi liderzy upamiętniają II wojnę światową", wyraźnie sugerował, że moze nie jest aż tak dobrze.

Już w pierwszym paragrafie autor, Marc Santora, pisze, że podczas gdy globalni liderzy upamiętniali najkrwawszy konflikt w historii ludzkości, wydarzenie posłużyło do podkreślenia podziałów w Europie i w Polsce.

Następne paragrafy to względnie stonowana relacja ale zaraz po tym jest następny zawoalowany atak gdy autor pisze: 

Od czasu dojścia do władzy w 2015 r. rządząca w Polsce partia Prawo i Sprawiedliwość toczyła zacięte bitwy o wiele rozdziałów w swojej historii, w tym ruch Solidarności, wydarzenia prowadzące do częściowo wolnych wyborów w 1989 r. Oraz sposób, w jaki omawiany jest Holokaust. Nawet spuścizna ulubionego polskiego syna, papieża Jana Pawła II, stała się polem bitwy.

Oczywiście nie zabrakło także cytatu z wywiadu pani Dulkiewicz: 
„Pokój w Europie wymaga rządów prawa i poszanowania praw ... Tam, gdzie brakuje praw, a wolność jest tłumiona, kwestionuje się zjednoczenie Europy i niszczy demokracje, prędzej czy później będzie przemoc”.

Jeszcze w tamtym tygodniu można się było dziwić jak to jest, że pani Dulkiewicz jest tak często cytowana przez zachodnia prasę ale po ostatnich doniesieniach, ze jej urząd płaci gazetom za te "wywiady" pozostaje tylko rwanie włosów z głowy.

80th anniversary of WWII: Poland was betrayed

The West urged Poland to fight, but it did not lift a finger to help – writes Roger Moorhouse. 

He also writes: Poland was to be the target of German expansion because Hitler intended to use its territory as “living space” for the German nation (Lebensraum). Moreover, in the eyes of the Nazis, the Poles were a lesser race, not only as Slavs, but also as a nation contaminated – according to Hitler’s racist worldview – with Jewish elements.

Why is it so difficult for the West to understand how big a catastrophe September 1939 was for Poles and how far-reaching its consequences were? The history of twentieth-century Poland is not only difficult, but it is also an uncomfortable topic for the leading countries in the world. - writes Wojciech Roszkowski in The Washington Post on Sunday. 

Mr. Roszkowski is a history professor, an economist and member of the European Parliament.

The attack of Nazi Germany on Poland on September 1, 1939, and the subsequent Soviet aggression on September 17 marked the second apocalypse for Poland. Poland could not win alone against the two most powerful armies in the world – writes Mateusz MORAWIECKI Prime Minister of Republic of Poland in his article: The long Polish year of 1939

He also writes that: The Second World War would have probably ended in a few months with Hitler’s defeat if France and the United Kingdom had opened the Western Front in September 1939. Their advantage over the Reich in the number of divisions was crushing. This was the opinion of Hitler’s generals themselves. The price of this omission was the fall of France in 1940, Vichy, and the battle for Britain.

Those words should be a warning for all of us right now, today. Are they???

Poland marks 80th anniversary of start of World War Two

From the website of The President of The Republic of Poland:

Speaking at observances marking the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of WWII in Wielun, central Poland, on Sunday, President Andrzej Duda stressed that this terrible war started with an act of barbarity, an attack against common people.

Present at the observances was also German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

The first bombs of WWII were dropped on September 1, 1939, on the town of Wielun. The Luftwaffe bombings started at 4:40 a.m. Before the war, Wielun had around 16,000 residents and was situated only 21 kilometres away from the German border. The first bombs killed 32 people, all patients and staff of the local hospital.

"This was the Second World War, which ravaged the world, which will never be forgotten since we must never forget it. We must never forget it even when all the eyewitnesses are gone," he said.
