ORLEN Południe (South), a member of the ORLEN Group, has signed a contract to construct a UCO FAME plant, one of the largest in Europe, which will convert used cooking oils and animal fats into 30,000 tonnes of second-generation esters and 7,000 tonnes of technical grade glycerin annually. Deployment of the related innovative and environmentally friendly solutions will mark yet another milestone to transform ORLEN Południe into a state-of-the-art biorefinery and step up the development of alternative fuel lines, which is one of the ORLEN Group’s strategic objectives. The project in Trzebinia will be completed in the first quarter of 2023.
