PM Tusk quietly got rid of the commission for investigating Russian influence in Poland

 Yesterday, the Polish Monitor published an order from Prime Minister Donald Tusk. It states that the Commission for investigating Russian and Belarusian influence on the internal security and interests of the Republic of Poland in 2004-2024 has been abolished.

Almost immediately after Donald Tusk's team took power (Dec. 13, 2023), the State Commission for Investigating Russian Influence on the Internal Security of the Republic of Poland in the Years 2007-2022 was disbanded. Shortly thereafter, the public learned of the creation of a nearly identical commission, this time staffed with "experts" favorable to the current government.

Although it had been operating for many months, the results of the work were not visible. Later, the publication of a "damning" PiS report was announced on the 15th anniversary of the presidential plane accident in Smolensk. As the deadline approached, the tactics changed – instead of publication, they began sending out short pieces (leaks) to the media about individual politicians.

However, we will likely never know the answer to the question of what was contained in that classified report, which was supposed to be sent to Donald Tusk. Yesterday, it was revealed that the head of government quietly disbanded the commission without informing the public.

"By quietly disbanding this commission, Prime Minister Donald Tusk ridiculed the investigation into Russian and Belarusian influence in Poland. Perhaps that was the commission's goal: to prevent anyone, whether politicians or the public, from taking seriously the investigation into the influence that is real, that is happening here and now. If that was its true goal, it succeeded," commented Mariusz Kozłowski, a retired colonel from the Military Counterintelligence Service.

Poland: The Internal Affairs Department of the National Prosecutor's Office is investigating the circumstances of the verdicts issued by former judge Waldemar Żurek, the new Minister of Justice.

"The Code of Criminal Procedure clearly and unequivocally excludes judges and prosecutors from cases that concern them. And if Judge Żurek, knowing full well that the prosecutor's office was investigating cases against him, agreed to take over position as the Prosecutor General, then either he has no knowledge of the law, or there's a doubt whether he did so consciously to clear these matters for himself. I don't suspect Żurek of lacking legal knowledge, " commented MP Warchoł.

It's official, a coup d'état was proposed to the Speaker of the Sejm

 During an interview with Marcin Fijołek, Szymon Hołownia stated bluntly: "I've been repeatedly asked or suggested whether I'd be ready to stage a coup." He added that these suggestions concerned blocking or delaying the newly elected president's oath-taking ceremony. The Speaker emphasized that he firmly rejected these proposals. "I would not participate in a coup. As Speaker of the Sejm, I am obligated to respect the will of the majority of voters," Hołownia stated.

The leader of Poland 2050 did not want to reveal the names of the people who made him such far-reaching proposals, suggesting that he might write about it in his memoirs.

Attorney Bartosz Lewandowski responded to these shocking words, announcing on the X that he had filed a motion to question the Speaker of the Sejm as a witness.

"In reference to further media reports about Marshal Szymon Hołownia inciting him to prevent the inauguration of President-elect Karol Nawrocki, and thus to change the state system and stage a coup d'état, I hereby inform you that, on behalf of the aggrieved party, the National Council of the Judiciary, I have filed an evidentiary motion with the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw to question the Speaker as a witness."

If the evidentiary motion is granted, Szymon Hołownia will be required to disclose the names of the individuals who incited him to fail in his duties and prevent President Karol Nawrocki from being sworn in, as well as to provide the circumstances surrounding such acts.

"Inciting to commit a prohibited act is a crime in itself, and it is irrelevant whether the person being incited committed a violation of the law or not. The information disclosed by the Marshal is of crucial importance to the ongoing investigation. I hope that the prosecutor will grant the motion and immediately set a date for action in this matter," added Lewandowski.

Military Police is looking for people involved in the "Vistula Line" investigation

 The Military Police conducted intensive operations in Warsaw today, including a visit to the Sejm. According to reports, they were searching for individuals under investigation in the so-called "Vistula Line" case, including former Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak in the PiS government.

The prosecution team has unexpectedly accelerated its efforts and wants to file an indictment before August 6th. Summons are being feverishly served on all defendants, requiring them to appear immediately and review the evidence.

The prosecutor's office intends to charge Mariusz Błaszczak, among others, with exceeding his authority for declassifying, as head of the Ministry of National Defense, fragments of the WARTA Plan for the Use of the Polish Armed Forces in July 2023 and publicly disclosing them in September of that year. This plan, dated 2011, outlines methods of defense against a potential Russian attack.

This way, Błaszczak made it public that during its rule, the PO planned to defend the country along the Vistula River in the event of an invasion and to surrender half of the country to the attacker.

The drilling that the Germans protested against revealed gigantic deposits in Poland

 Over 22 million tonnes of crude oil and condensate and 5 billion cubic metres of commercial-grade gas were discovered by the Canadian company Central European Petroleum approximately 6 km from the Polish port Świnoujście.

According to company representatives, the discovery is the largest in Poland's history and one of the largest in Europe in the last decade.

It's worth noting that Germany opposed the work in the Baltic Sea. Till Backhaus, the Minister of the Environment of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, criticized the Polish authorities for issuing the permit. He argued that activities that could have ecological consequences required prior notification of the neighboring country. „Prezydent Trump podjął decyzję o wycofaniu Stanów Zjednoczonych z UNESCO – organizacji wspierającej przebudzone, kontrowersyjne inicjatywy kulturowe i społeczne, które są całkowicie sprzeczne ze zdrowym rozsądkiem, za którym Amerykanie głosowali w listopadzie. Ten prezydent zawsze będzie stawiał Amerykę na pierwszym miejscu i zadba o to, aby członkostwo naszego kraju we wszystkich organizacjach międzynarodowych było zgodne z naszymi interesami narodowymi” – powiedziała we wtorek Anna Kelly, zastępca rzecznika Białego Domu.

The Minister of Justice is using his prosecutorial powers for personal vendettas

 Supreme Court Justice Maria Szczepaniec has found herself under scrutiny after her remarks to Minister Adam Bodnar.

On the day of the Supreme Court's hearing on the validity of the presidential election, she received a summons from the National Prosecutor's Office. A hearing took place yesterday. "It was four hours of brutal, oppressive attacks," said Justice Szczepaniec.

"I'm a lawyer and I can handle such situations, but I was deeply moved by the way the interrogation was conducted."

On July 1, 2025, the Chamber of Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs of the Supreme Court held a hearing to determine the validity of the presidential elections.

During the hearing, Supreme Court Judge Maria Szczepaniec asked the Minister of Justice and Prosecutor General Adam Bodnar, who was present in the courtroom:

"Mr. Attorney General, you were elected senator in the 2023 elections to the Sejm and Senate. Let me remind you that the validity of those elections was certified by our chamber. Therefore, I have a question for you: do you feel like you were defectively elected as the senator?" She added that after the election results were announced he did not protest the outcome.

On July 1, that is, on the same day, the National Prosecutor's Office sent Judge Maria Szczepaniec... a summons for questioning!

This concerns a bizarre investigation by the Internal Affairs Department of the National Prosecutor's Office, initiated at the request of Waldemar Żurek. Judge Szczepaniec ruled in one of his cases, and Żurek claimed that she had impersonated a Supreme Court judge.

Attempt to take away freedom of speech for Polish bishops

 The Press Freedom Monitoring Center of the Association of Polish Journalists strongly protests against the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' attempts to censor the homilies and statements of clergy by sending a diplomatic letter to the Vatican, manipulating the content of the religious speeches delivered by two bishops during this year's Radio Maryja Family pilgrimage to Jasna Góra. 

Foreign Minister Rdosław Sikorski, husband of well-known American journalist and historian Anne Applebaum, decided to review the Jasna Góra sermons and report their authors to the Vatican. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a "démarche" to the Holy See regarding the misleading content of Bishop Wiesław Mering's sermon and Bishop Antoni Długosz's statements. The letter contains brazen attempts to review the homilies, deeming them inconsistent with Church teaching. It contains threats and claims of violations of the concordat. It is also rife with embarrassing errors. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confuses the dates of the events described, confuses quotations from the sermons with statements, and even uses the names of institutions that do not exist.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs' letter also contains requests for the bishops to be punished by the Holy See. It violates the principle of separation of church and state and undermines religious freedom. This letter also exemplifies a drastic violation of the principle of freedom of speech, fundamental to every democratic state.

The resolution regarding Nawrocki's swearing-in has been published, but there is more

 The Polish Monitor has just published the resolution of Sejm Speaker Szymon Hołownia regarding the swearing-in of President-elect Karol Nawrocki as head of state. This means that Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who had been delaying this decision for a long time (the resolution was signed by Speaker Hołownia on July 7th), has clearly given up on his scheming.

"Although the Constitution does not provide for a deadline for its issuance, the delay in announcing the act necessary to conduct the swearing-in ceremony of the new head of state may be perceived as an action bordering on abuse of powers by a legislative body," says the Lawyers for Poland Association.

 After nearly two weeks of delay, Prime Minister Donald Tusk published the resolution convening the National Assembly in the Official Journal of the Republic of Poland. This means that Karol Nawrocki will officially assume the office of President of the Republic of Poland on August 6, as planned.

BUT. There is always "but" with PM Tusk.

It seems that the delay was caused by the scheming related to the annotation illegally added to the Supreme Court resolution confirming the validity of Nawrocki's election as president. The annotation was intended to serve as a "back door" into the process, allowing the PM to delay the swearing-in long enough for the Speaker of the Sejm to assume the office and sign all the bills that the current president had refused to sign, and which the incoming president would also refuse to sign.

The Prime Minister’s office added a note to the resolution stating that the case law of European tribunals does not allow the Supreme Court bench in this case to be considered a “court established by law.”

Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Professor Małgorzata Manowska, filed a report alleging that a crime was committed in connection with the publication of the resolution validating the election of the President of the Republic of Poland. "Adding an annotation to the Supreme Court's resolution validating the election of President Karol Nawrocki constitutes unlawful interference by the executive branch and a brazen attack on the independence of the Supreme Court," the statement reads.

Two demonstrations, one organized by right-wing groups and the far-left counter-demonstration "Stop Fascism," met along the route. Provocateurs with Antifa flags attempted to break through to the anti-immigration marchers.

Defense lawyer faces charges for refusal to work with the prosecutor

Attorney Krzysztof Wąsowski heard charges today at the prosecutor's office in a case in which he is the defense attorney for three suspects.
