Defence24/Niezalezna: The Air Operations Center recorded an object in Polish airspace that flew in from the direction of Belarus. The defense ministry said on Saturday that it is probably an observation balloon. The emergency services lost radar contact with the object near Rypin (north-central Poland).
A ground search and rescue team of the Territorial Defense Forces (equivalent to the National Guard) has been launched. It operates under the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces - said the spokesman of TDF, Major Witold Sura.
"The team is a small group, but larger forces will be launched if necessary. (...) Our team is already working on this matter in the vicinity of Rypin," - Major Sura pointed out.
The duty officer from the Provincial Headquarters of the regional Fire Service in Toruń said that firefighters were aware of the incident.
