Was Poland's asylum ban a smokescreen? Poland may accept 40K migrants... from Germany

According to the political opposition in Poland, all this hoopla about asylum ban was a smokescreen to hide the fact that the current government agreed to all EU's migrant initiatives, including acceptance of 40 thousands of migrants from Germany.

On Thursday evening, after one day, the European Council summit ended, with its conclusions emphasizing, among other things, that Russia and Belarus and no other country may abuse the right to asylum. Solidarity was also expressed with Poland and the Member States facing related challenges.

Donald Tusk and his allies interpreted this as a great success, which is consistent with the Civic Coalition narrative presenting themselves as defenders of Polish borders.

However, the conclusions also included another point - regarding the intensification of work on the implementation of the migration pact and it looks like PM Tusk was trying to avert our attention from it.

"Yesterday, during the European Council, Tusk pledged to urgently implement the Migration Pact. They are already preparing integration centers for migrants sent here from Germany. This smokescreen with the asylum is just a hoax and an attempt to divert attention" - writes Sebastian Kaleta, former deputy minister of justice.
