The majority of Poles do not want Włodzimierz Czarzasty to take over as Speaker of the Sejm, according to the latest Pollster poll for "Super Express", in which 55% of respondents were against this candidacy.
Despite disaproval of majority of Poles the governing coalition elected Czarzasty, former member of the communist party, during communist era, and now a leader of the New Left, was elected in the parliamentary vote to become the second person in the country.
"This gentleman's subsequent career indicates that if there are any grounds for not electing anyone from this Sejm to such positions, it is Mr. Czarzasty," Law and Justice leader Jarosław Kaczyński told reporters in the Sejm after Włodzimierz Czarzasty was voted on as Speaker of the Sejm.
"This is simply pure communism, this is a communist Sejm," said the leader of the largest opposition party, explaining why he and other members of parliament from his party left the chamber.
