The Constitutional Tribunal ruled today that the activities of the Polish Communist Party are inconsistent with the Polish Constitution. The decision implies the party's delegalization.
– There is no place in the legal order of the Republic of Poland for a party that glorifies criminals and communist regimes responsible for the deaths of millions of human beings, including our compatriots, Polish citizens – said Judge Krystyna Pawłowicz, justifying the decision to delegalize the formation.
According to the Act on Political Parties, "if the Constitutional Tribunal issues a ruling on the non-conformity of the purposes or activities of a political party with the Constitution, the court shall immediately issue a decision to remove the political party from the register."
