Włodzimierz Czarzasty, the leader of the Left party and Speaker of the Sejm (Polish parliament), has access to classified state documents due to his position. However, as revealed by the authors of the show Strictly Confidential, he has not undergone the required security clearance procedures for years.
Since November 2023, he has not submitted a security clearance questionnaire to the Internal Security Agency. According to journalists, the reason may be numerous business and social connections reaching back to circles associated with the former Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) from the 1990s. The politician did not respond to the journalists' questions. Politicians from the ruling coalition have also remained consistently silent on the matter.
"Essentially, all the politicians from the ruling coalition are pretending that this situation doesn't need to be explained. I don't know what the outcome of such an explanation would be. However, the point is that nobody even wants to attempt to explain it. Nobody wants to touch a matter that is crucial for the security of the Polish state," says reporter Katarzyna Gójska.
