US President-elect Donald Trump warmly greeted President Andrzej Duda during the celebrations for the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral. Ulf Poschardt, editor-in-chief of the Die Welt, reacted hysterically to this.
This is an incredible humiliation for Germany: economically disadvantaged and now also symbolically marginalized in foreign policy.
German politician Armin Laschet commented, "Why, why? Why doesn't the Federal Chancellor understand Europe? It would be a great signal if Macron and Scholz met in Paris with President Zelensky and Donald Trump. This ignorance is not understandable."
"What does Chancellor Scholz actually do professionally?" asks Julius Böhm from the editorial office of "Nius" mockingly. He added a photo of Trump, Macron and Zelensky.
CDU politician Gundolf Siebeke added, "Scholz and Habeck are not welcome in Paris, nor is Ursula von der Leyen. Our President has found himself in the second row. Something like this has not happened in the last 75 years. This government has significantly damaged Franco-German relations."
