The political beneficiary of the GRU's involvement in the fight against the president and the government of the Republic of Poland in the 2023 election year was Donald Tusk's political camp, which verbally made "fu... PiS" its political message. Even if the Russians were not the authors of this slogan, by covering Poland with thousands of "Fuck PiS" (to avoid law many organizations and politicians used ***** *** signs) signs, they took an active part in its propagation, the stake of which was to arouse social emotions in such a way that the United Right would ultimately lose power. Russia wanted this change and by engaging in the fight against President Duda and the right-wing government, it clearly indicated its favorite in the elections - professor Sławomir Cenckiewicz analyzes the Internal Security Agency (ABW) documents in the latest issue of the "Polish Gazette" (Gazeta Polska).
In the article, Cenckiewicz describes how Russia, through the GRU, waged a hybrid war against Poland, seeking to weaken the United Right government. The key element was a 16-person sabotage group, busted by the ABW in 2023 and convicted of espionage in 2024. Agents recruited, among others, via Telegram and Facebook under the guise of job offers (e.g. "Rabota w Warszawie"), installed cameras on railway lines transporting aid to Ukraine, identified critical infrastructure such as the airport in Jasionka or ports in Gdańsk and Gdynia, and also conducted propaganda campaigns.
Cenckiewicz emphasizes that Russia supported the left-liberal rebellion to overthrow the "Russophobic" PiS government. "It is obvious that the political beneficiary of the GRU's involvement in the fight against the president and the government of the Republic of Poland in the 2023 election year was Donald Tusk's political camp, which verbally made "f... PiS" its political message," writes the author. He suggests that Tusk, just like during the "reset with Russia" times, could see Moscow as an ally in the political fight.
