Donald Tusk, leader of the Polish party, Civic Platform, President of the European People's Party, and former President of the European Council, recorded a video in which he attacked Prime Minister Morawiecki for high increases in natural gas prices. 

Intrigued by Donald Tusk's sudden concern for the affairs of Poland and the fate of ordinary Poles, the PM decided to reply by posting letters that the head of the Civic Platform could send to Angela Merkel and Frans Timmermans. The letters would draw their attention to how their decisions led to shocking price increases and inflation.

Morawiecki writes that the rise in prices and inflation in the EU was caused, among other things, by the Nord Stream 2 project, forced for years by Germany, but also the entire system of CO2 emission allowances, which today has simply become an area of price speculation and a generator of inflation.

"If you really want to help us with this, then - using your international contacts and the position of the EPP chairman - I would like to invite you to send special letters, which I have allowed myself to prepare, addressed to your friends."

Responsible politics requires that you be able to admit when you are wrong. Unfortunately, today we have to beat our chest: it is now clear that the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline was a huge mistake.

Both as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, the head of the European Council and the head of the European People's Party, I put Polish-German relations at the center of my policy. I have repeatedly expressed my support for the German aspirations, aspirations which, in my understanding, lead the entire European Union in the best possible direction.

Perhaps it was this certainty that made it impossible to see that the NS2 project was so harmful. We already know that it not only does not serve Germany's long-term interests, but also destroys European solidarity. Its consequence is a sharp rise in prices, which is hitting hard European societies, including Polish society, tired of the pandemic.

Sincere faith in the possibility of honest cooperation with Vladimir Putin turned out to be naïve. It is a bitter lesson for me and for all progressive European forces. But we must learn from this lesson. There is only one remedy for a sharp rise in gas prices, for the energy blackmail of Vladimir Putin. Nord Stream 2 must be closed. This is the best solution for Europe, Germany and Poland.

We must do the same for the OC2 emissions allowance system, which has become an area of price speculation and an inflation generator. Thus, it threatens not only the financial security of EU citizens, but also the future of the EU climate policy.

The reform of the CO2 emissions system is the key to stoping record inflation in both Germany and Poland. While the reform of the ETS system requires a lot of work, the end of Nord Stream 2 requires only one political decision. I am asking for it in the name of our friendship and in the interest of ordinary citizens of Germany and Poland.

Michniów massacre, 1943

 During World War II and the occupation of Poland by Nazi Germany (1939-1945), Poles were subjected to terror and mass German repression not only in the cities but also in the villages. The is no complete list, but nearly 300 villages were burned to the ground, literally.

One of such villages was Michniów. 

The inhabitants of Michniów were actively helping the local partisans from the Świętokrzyskie Home Army (AK). 

On July 12, 1943, a German military unit partially burned the village and murdered over 100 inhabitants. In retaliation that same night, AK's partisans attacked the express train Kraków-Warsaw in the area of Podłazie, Skarżysko County, killing or injuring at least a dozen Germans. The next day, German Ordnungspolizei returned to Michniów, completely burning the village and murdering almost all Poles who lived there. At least 204 people, men, women, and children, were killed. Most of them burned alive in a barn. The youngest victim was a nine-day-old Stefan Dąbrowa, thrown into a burning barn by a German military policeman.

German authorities forbade the reconstruction of the village and cultivation of surrounding fields. After the war, the Michniów massacre symbolized German crimes committed in Polish villages. Currently, in Michniów, there is the Mausoleum of Polish Rural Martyrology.

SpaceX pozyskuje ponad 337 milionów dolarów nowego finansowania

Putin promises a drop in gas prices in the West in exchange for the launch of NS2

 It is hard not to see that Putin is blackmailing Europe. On Wednesday, the head of Gazprom declared that the gas pipeline was ready for commissioning. Putin congratulated Gazprom and its five European partners on completing the project. He also stated that "the appearance of gas after certification of the pipeline will have an immediate impact on the gas price" in the European market and for European consumers.

"This new pipeline will certainly help stabilize prices on the European market," he announced.

According to the head of Gazprom, Alexei Miller, gas storage in Europe is 44 percent full, and in Germany - 47 percent. For several days, Gazprom has not been pumping gas through the Russian-European Yamal pipeline through Poland to Western Europe.

"Gazprom is not taking any steps to increase the volumes of supplies to Europe: no additional volumes of gas have been reserved for transit in the existing Ukrainian gas pipeline system for January."

Meanwhile, 20 tankers with American natural gas (LNG) are on their way to Europe. The gas prices in Europe have fallen since the announcement of the US deliveries, but they are still several times higher than a year ago. Buying LNG from the US is a temporary solution though and everyone knows that. Germany gave Putin the tools to get a grip on the European energy market and now there is no easy solution to the problem.

Nord Stream 2 has yet to be approved for use by the regulatory authorities of Germany and the EU. Its certification process is expected to be completed no earlier than the end of the first half of 2022.

Psst! The shortages of energy are bringing Europe to its knees

 The enthusiasts of Green Energy or Green Revolution and anybody who worries about energy prices need to read it and do their own research afterward because there is a lesson here for all of us. Europe has energy shortages problem even without Russian meddling.

Electricity prices in Europe are scary. Reason? In France, there is a shortage of available nuclear power plants, in Germany, gas, in Great Britain, wind, and in Poland, coal, so much so that power plants are already limiting production. However, the market is betting that the worst is ahead of us, which will be combined with further shutdowns of nuclear power plants in Germany.

Poland:

Most of the coal power plants will reduce their generation again. The operators do not provide detailed reasons for their indisposition, but it is easy to guess that it is most likely the effect of critically low coal reserves. 

Coal shortages are the result of an unexpectedly high demand for energy from Polish power plants. According to preliminary data from the Polish Power Grid, from January to November, they produced as much as 31% more energy than last year, burning several million tons of coal more. This growth is mostly generated by energy exports abroad, where for several months electricity prices have been much higher than in Poland.

France:

Energy from all over Europe, including Poland, via Germany, is sucked in primarily by France, until recently the continent's largest electricity exporter. In December 2020, the French supported their neighbors with net exports. This month, they were able to import as much as Poland needs for half of the winter demand.

This change is due to the extremely low availability of French nuclear power plants. Many of them are undergoing renovations that could not be carried out on schedule due to the pandemic. To make matters worse, faults were detected in two renovated units, which extended their repairs and forced the shutdown of two more reactors of the same design for safety reasons. 

As a result, in January the French transmission system operator RTE estimates that the availability of nuclear power plants will be 45-55 GW, compared to the 2010-2019 average of 55-65 GW. Meanwhile, the country's demand for power already exceeds 80 GW, and the record demand during cold winter can raise up to 100 GW.

Germany:

The astronomical valuation of energy supplies in France is linked to a shortage of natural gas in storage. However, it is not about stocks in France, because there, like in Poland, the warehouses were almost completely full before winter. The market is concerned that France will not be able to import enough electricity from Germany, where gas stocks (similar to neighboring Austria) are at their lowest levels in years and are already falling at the same pace as in other years. As a result, they may be at a critically low level at the end of February.

Meanwhile, in January, Germany, in line with the plan from a decade ago, will shut down another three of the six remaining nuclear reactors. All three are currently operating at almost full speed, but the exact schedule of their shutdown by 11:45 PM on New Year's Eve has already been announced and there is no real chance that the new German government will change this decision. The other three reactors will be shut down at the same time next year.

England:

Unfortunately, wind power generation, which has traditionally helped to lower winter electricity prices on European exchanges, is not bringing relief to the tense energy situation across Europe. The largest operator of offshore wind farms in Europe and in the world, Orsted, showed in the results for the third quarter how drastically production in its installations fell this year. From July to September, the average wind speed on its offshore wind farms was 7.6 m/s, compared to 8.6 m/s a year earlier at that time. This "slight" difference of 1 m/s translated into a decrease in the windmill load from 35% to 27%. The company expects to close the entire year with lower production not only compared to the previous year but also in "normal" weather conditions. Orsted's CEO, Mads Nipper, described the situation as "completely abnormal."

As a result, already in September, the average energy prices on the spot market in Great Britain were more than twice as high as in Poland, and the British were importing energy from the rest of Europe through connections with Norway, the Netherlands, and France while exporting some of it to Ireland, where it happens to be even more expensive.

Crisis in Europe now and in the future:

This winter shows the flowering of the energy crisis in Europe. The fact that all technologies are failing today - from coal and gas to nuclear, to renewable sources - shows that there is no ideal solution in the energy sector that would be able to provide energy security at a reasonable price in all situations.

Europe doesn't seem to have any solution, apart from believing that everything will fix itself as long as they do the "right thing." 

So, the thermal power plants (mainly coal and nuclear) are being liquidated on a massive scale in almost all of Europe and replaced with gas-fired power plants in hope that energy storage and management technologies will develop quickly enough to replace the rest of classic power plants. 

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be happening.

Niestety wychodzi na to, ze nie tym razem. Konstytucyjnie gwarantowana wolność słowa nie wszystkim się należy.

Brawo dla prezydenta Bidena za spokojna reakcje podczas tego wydarzenia. Swoją, drogą taki żart był nie na miejscu.

Norway has a problem because Poles ... are returning to Poland!

Poles are packing up and returning from Norway to their country, not only due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The reason is the increase in wages in Poland and the decline in the value of the Norwegian Crown. The Norwegian construction and shipbuilding industry is short of employees, alarms Norway's television station NRK.

The Norwegian public broadcaster NRK talked to the plumber Wojciech Persiński, the head of the Polish community organization, who confirms that he knows many compatriots who have returned to Poland or left for Germany. "Earnings are better there than before. Because of a different culture and language, working in this country is difficult," explained Persiński.

The FAFO research published this year shows that every fourth Lithuanian and fifth Pole working in Norway is considering returning to their homeland.

Fauci: Zdejmowanie masek w samolotach „nie jest czymś, o czym powinniśmy nawet myśleć”

 Dyrektor Narodowego Instytutu Alergii i Chorób Zakaźnych, dr Anthony Fauci, powiedział, że zdejmowanie masek w samolocie „nie jest czymś, o czym powinniśmy nawet myśleć”.

Fauci wygłosił swoje komentarze podczas niedzielnego programu ABC This Week gdy odpowiadał na pytanie dotyczące mandatu na szczepionki dla krajowych linii lotniczych.

„Chcemy mieć pewność, że ludzie mają założone maski. Myślę, że pomysł zdejmowania masek w moim umyśle nie jest czymś, o czym powinniśmy nawet myśleć” – powiedział Fauci.

A new vaccine in the EU. Polish company part of production process

 The first series of the critical component of the new COVID-19 vaccine - the antigen for Nuvaxovid - was developed in Poland. Mabion, the biological company, announced that it has started producing an antigen according to the contract with the American concern Novavax.

- Commercial-scale production for Novavax is carried out according to the established schedule. We have started production of the next series, and in the coming weeks, we plan to produce more and more series to reach full capacity in the second quarter of 2022. It can be said that on our part of the battle with the coronavirus, we are conducting an exemplary operation - said the president of Mabion, Krzysztof Kaczmarczyk.

Results from two main clinical trials are promising for Novavax’s vaccine when fighting the original strain of SARS-CoV-2 and some variants of concern such as Alpha and Beta. Rates of 90% efficiency at preventing COVID-19 in people over 18 years of age were found in both studies.

But with the new variants, such as Omicron, its efficiency is unknown. The EMA’s press release states that “there is currently limited data on the efficacy of Nuvaxovid against other variants of concern, including Omicron.”

Nuvaxovid is given as two injections, three weeks apart. Side effects reported in the studies were usually mild or moderate and cleared within a couple of days. Tenderness or pain at the injection site, tiredness, and muscle pain were most commonly reported.

Korea signs deal to part-finance Poland’s $8bn air and rail transport hub

 An intergovernmental agreement between South Korea and Poland is expected to improve Korean companies’ chances of winning work on an $8bn project to build Europe’s largest air hub, the Solidarity Transport Hub (STH).

The STH will consist of the New Central Polish Airport (CPK), a replacement for Warsaw's Frederic Chopin Airport, as well as railways, roads and new towns.

The Koreans will become a minority shareholder in the project and will raise part of the money for the construction costs.

Work will begin in 2023, and much of the project is due to be completed by 2027. Once complete, the airport is expected to handle up to 45 million passengers a year. Later phases will raise this to 100 million.

The Polish government’s plenipotentiary for the hub, Marcin Horała, said the agreement was “a big step” towards making the airport a joint investment between Poland and South Korea.

“Such a move will combine South Korean knowledge and experience with Polish ambition and potential. It is an unequivocal signal that the CPK is a well-thought-out, well-planned and promising investment,” - he siad.

The hub will include railway construction aimed at reducing the time needed to travel between Warsaw and the largest Polish cities in less than 2.5 hours. That amount of travel time will be further reduced with the construction of high-speed rail to major cities.

We have not been able to get out of the shock for several days. The allegations we face from the French trade unions, and the French and Polish media regarding the interview we conducted with Marine Le Pen and the existence of the French-language portal Tysol(.)fr. They are so absurd and grotesque that even taking into account the collapse of the notion of journalism, they say more about our critics than about us.

A campaign to discredit Tygodnik Solidarność, the Tysol.pl portal and even "Solidarity" itself has been going on for several days, because the media belonging to the trade union that changed the history of mankind dared to do their work and carry out the mission to which they were established for over 40 years ago. There were accusations of "supporting the extreme right" and "supporting the violation of freedom of speech" (sic!), "Denial of LGBT rights" and "stigmatization of immigrants". Our critics feel "amazed and disgusted." Several French trade unions protested, there were even threats to exclude Solidarity from the structures of the European Trade Union Confederation, and the French "Le Monde" and numerous media outlets in Poland eagerly picked up on this. 

It is completely idiocy to combine Solidarity with the publications of Tygodnik Solidarność, Tysol.pl or Tysol.fr. Of course, the Union is the owner of Tysol Sp. z o.o., which is, inter alia, the publisher of "Tygodnik Solidarność" and the portals Tysol.pl and Tysol.fr, but the media, which follow the press law, are an independent entity!

Nobody from Gdańsk calls us with an instruction whether we should publish an interview with Marine Le Pen, or establish a French-language portal, or the removal of the published content. None of our critics asked for an opinion or more information on this subject, neither to the editor-in-chief of Tygodnik Solidarność, Michał Ossowski, responsible for the content of Tygodnik Solidarność, including an interview with Marine Le Pen, nor to the editor-in-chief of the portal Tysol.pl by Cezary Krysztopa, responsible for the content of Tysol.pl and Tysol.fr. 

The media write nonsense about the articles on the pages of the Tysol.pl news portal, which allegedly are "messages from the union", while in fact they are the product of the work of our journalists reporting on specific events in the life of the Union. So it's hard not to get the impression that the issue of our publications is being used as an excuse to strike against a powerful Union which is based on patriotism and the social teaching of the Catholic Church, something inherently inconvenient for the "progressive" establishment. However, it is not our role to speak on behalf of the Union. The "Solidarity" can defend itself perfectly. 

We are very uncomfortable with the allegations of French trade unions, because for some reason they are not directed at us, but at "Solidarity." However, they do concern our decisions. Perhaps it is different in France, but in Poland, there is freedom of speech, which guarantees us, the editors-in-chief of Tygodnik Solidarność and Tysol.pl, the possibility of free decision-making, and our press law, which makes the position of editor-in-chief an independent position. On the other hand, journalistic standards do not provide for issuing orders regarding publication, even from the owner. So if Mr. Philippe Martinez, the head of the CGT, and Mr. Laurent Berger, the head of CFDT, want to know something about our publications, please contact us, we will be happy to explain to them that "Tygodnik Solidarność", the first free magazine behind the Iron Curtain, did not drop the shackles of communist censorship to embrace the censorship of  Mr. Martinez and Mr. Berger.

In his material, Mr. Iwaniek tries not to express his own opinion, but at the same time presents the matter unilaterally and in a distorted manner through the selection of interlocutors and quotes. The article reveals, for example, a thread about the photo of a smiling Marine Le Pen on the cover of Tygodnik Solidarność, which is supposed to prove the editorial sympathy for the French politician. So what photo of a politician legally operating in France, not being accused and having a chance of a second round of the presidential election, would please Mr. Martinez, Berger and Iwaniek? Le Pen with horns? With broken teeth? With your head cut off? 

The same applies to the accusation of "supporting the extreme right", which allegedly would "contradict the struggle that French trade unions waged with Solidarity 40 years ago". We do not quite know what this "extreme right" is supposed to be, perhaps it is about everything to the right of left-wing trade unions or a former employee of "Gazeta Wyborcza", but for pity, gentlemen! Perhaps someone misled you, SOLIDARITY 40 YEARS AGO FOUGHT AGAINST THE EXTREME AND BRUTAL LEFT, NOT THE RIGHT. Czech government does not want to resolve the dispute over the Turów power plant

 The Czech government did not respond to the last proposal to resolve the dispute over the Turów power plant submitted a month ago, Deputy Minister of Climate Adam Gibourge-Czetwertyński informed in the Sejm.

Immediately after the fine was imposed on Poland the Czech side offered to sell coal from their mine that's in the same region.

 This year’s Sustainable Bus Award went to the Solaris Urbino 15 LE electric bus. It was the fourth edition of this international competition for the most innovative and sustainable buses and coaches launched on the European market. 

The idea behind the Sustainable Bus Award is to promote the a sustainable development in public transport and to establish a positive image for urban transport as an area that plays a substantial role in climate change-related activities. 

The jury consisted of representatives from leading trade magazines from all across Europe, namely: Mobilités Magazine (France), Busfahrt (Germany), AUTOBUS (Italy), Infotrucker (Romania), Carril Bus (Spain), Revija Tranzit (Slovenia) and Bus and coach professional (UK).

The jury drew particular attention to the three-axle structure of the Solaris Urbino 15 LE electric bus, which provides more comfort and driving stability. Additionally, the fact that the bus can be adapted both for city and intercity transport was recognised. No less insignificant was the extensive equipment installed in the vehicle, i. e. a wide array of state-of-the-art electronic safety features, including the possibility of real-time fleet monitoring. This 15-meter long bus is fitted with six packs of traction batteries with a total capacity of 470 kWh to be charged both by plug-in and pantograph chargers.

Urbino 15 LE was introduced in October 2020.

Germany blocking defensive weapons for Ukraine. Who is Putin's biggest ally?

Border crisis intensifies, series of shots on the Belarusian side

Mass-murder of Polish youth in Gdynia, Nov. 1939

Polish PM is fighting the European Commission for a temporary reduction in taxes on food

Father Oko and Father Johannes Stöhr were sentenced in Germany to a 4,800 euro fine for the publication of an article describing the phenomenon of the so-called "Lavender Mafia", that is, a criminal group operating among the clergy linked by homosexual practices. 

Both Fr. Oko and Fr. Stöhr took legal action. The hearing will be held in February 2022.

Now, the publisher of the magazine and the lecturer at the theology department in Lugano, Switzerland, Fr. Manfred Hauke also have problems with the law. In an interview with katch.ch, the clergyman said he hopes that the "incident" of publishing a scientific article "will not be without consequences - on the state, university and church side."
